After the signing, Chairman Zvizdić said that global crises require global response. Therefore, cooperation of all states is key in stopping most effectively the negative trends which would certainly lead to disastrous consequences in foreseeable future.
“BIH is a small country, but I am sure that each part of chain of effects to global climate change is important. We are witnesses of serious and destructive climate problems. World leaders are aware of this, wand it is a good sign. The importance of the issue is proven by a fact that over 160 states signed this act today, binding to protection of our natural environment, return to natural streams and prevention of climate changes which may truly absolutely destructively affect our planet. I am confident that we can strike a balance between industrial development and preservation of nature. Today’s events are the best way to congratulate to the citizens of the world April 22nd - the Day of Planet Earth”, said Chairman Zvizdić, after signing the Global Climate Agreement.
Representatives of 195 states agreed in Paris last year a global climate deal o, committing themselves to stop growth of hot house gases emissions, the main agent of global warming.
For the Global Climate Agreement to take force officially, it has to be ratified by 55 states, participating in global hot house gases emission in 55% share, and deposit the agreement with UN.
