Zvizdić and Borovac Talk with ICMP Director

The Council of Ministers of BIH is seriously dedicated to the issues of treating war crimes and searching for missing persons, and has done its utmost so as to close these hard issues from the past and open the door of future, which the cooperation and confidence-building in the region, Chairman Zvizdić said.
The Chairman emphasised that the Council of Ministers of BIH accepted a Draft Amendments of Agreement on Co-founding of Missing Persons Institute of BIH, which was sent t a further procedure in the BIH Presidency. Also, the Council of Ministers defined a proposal for ratification of an international agreement under which the ICMP is to be established as an international organisation, and the proposal was sent to the Parliamentarian Assembly for further procedure.
He welcomed an announcement of drafting a regional list of missing persons, information of which was passed on by Director Bomberger. The access to the list will be to all the countries of the region, with a possibility of exchange of information.
Chairman Zvizdić initiated starting of a regional campaign for discovering of mass graves, and asked the ICMP for assistance in the initiative realisation.
The ICMP Director informed Chairman Zvizdičć and Minister Borovac on application of a new technology in DNA analysis, enabling the identification of unsolved cases to-date.
Minister Borovac pointed at a need to solve, within regional cooperation, the issue of indemnification to families of war crimes victims.
The cooperation between Bosnia and Hercegovina and the ICMP will be continued, and it includes training of the Agency for Forensic Research of BIH so that it could take-up a part of the ICMP project as soon as possible.
