CoM SENDS PROPOSAL PRTOCOL TO SAA TO BIH PRESIDENCY: CHAIRMAN ZVIZDIĆ TO BE SIGNATORY 

The Council of Ministers of BIH defined, at its extraordinary session a Proposal Protocol to the Stabilisation and Accession Agreement between the European Communities and their member-states, on one side, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the other side, which takes regard of the accession of the Republic of Croatian to the European Union.

The Proposal Protocol will be provided by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BIH to the BIH Presidency for further procedure, and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić was proposed for the BIH signatory.

The conclusion of the Protocol, initialled on July 18 this year, after an agreement was made and mutually acceptable solution reached as to the SAA adaption, the Council of Ministers takes additional activities in the process of BIH membership application consideration and getting the candidate status.

The Protocol presumes a technical adaptation of the trade-related provisions of the SAA in respect of BIH export to the EU market and export form the European Union to BIH, taking regard of the Croatia accession to the EU and for the avoidance of undermining of bilateral trade. The Protocol accommodates mutual interests of the two sides and takes into account sensitive categories of products. From the date of its temporary application, the European Union will automatically introduce trade benefits for BIH exports to the EU market for some agricultural products, like fruits and vegetables.  

The session adopted a Report on negotiations on the Protocol to the Stabilisation and Accession Agreement between the European Communities and their member-states, on one side, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the other side, in order to take into consideration the Accession of Croatia to the European Union.
