Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Borjana Krišto held a meeting in Sarajevo with Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Benjamin Haddad and Minister for Europe of the FR Germany Gunther Kirchbaum. The trilateral meeting was an opportunity for the highest political level discussion on current developments.

The European Road of our country, current political situation in Europe, as well as issues referring to the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina were the topics of today’s meeting.

Chairwoman Krišto briefed the Ministers on key topics within responsibility of the Council of Ministers and results achieved on both foreign and domestic plan. Chairwoman Krišto stressed the importance of political accountability of all political representatives of three constitutive people, who have to make breakthroughs by way of discussions and compromise. Successful moves that were made indicate that with political will in place all issues might be solved to joint satisfaction.

The meeting discussed the issue of the Office of High Representative and its status. An internal agreement renders sustainable solutions. Each intervention gives alibi to domestic officials not to reach agreement, as we have witnessed how such practice degrades sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina and opens the space for status quo on key issues, causing stalemate in European prospect of Bosnia and Herzegovina and in everything we must fulfil for the purpose of a full full-fledged membership in the EU.

Chairwoman Krišto touched upon a topic of the Election Law of BIH and necessity for reform of anomalies causing multiply negative effects. An attempt of political representation of one constitutive people by representatives of another one is annulation of the constitution-guaranteed rights, which harms cross-ethnic relations. Equality of constitutive people is the basic constitutional principle on which the constitutional order was built, as was the political system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as verified by the Constitutional Court of BIH, including all relevant awards by the European Court for Human Rights.
