Address by Chairman Zvizdić on Occasion of Day of Europe

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić addressed at a reception hosted by the Delegation of the European Union on the occasion of Europe Day. Below is the entire address of Chairman Zvizdić: 

“Honoured Ambassador Wigmark,

Respectful invitees,

Dear friends,

Today, as we mark the Day of Europe and Day of Victory against fascism, I am happy to say that Bosnia and Herzegovina steps firmly towards the European Union.

It is our most important aim and we stand ready to progress and achieve European standards, and for the sake of ourselves and our own future, to overcome challenges and find a place in the European Union, that belongs to us.

This year we mark 65^th anniversary since the then Foreign Minister of the Republic of France Robert Schuman announced a Declaration and created the European Coal and Steel Community, as an advance of the European Economic Union, i.e. nowadays European Union.

This community of varieties proves best that it actually is a benefit to enjoy in other and different. And following the same steps which led to the unification of Europe, reconciliation of people and promotion of liberties, it is a high time for us, as a community of different peoples of our own, to move along the same way and consolidate democracy, pluralism and tolerance and live under the moto of the European Union - In Varietate Concordia.

To you all, I wish happy the 9^th of May   – Day of Europe!”
