B-H – EBRD: Loan Contract Signed for “Sarajevo Water Supply and Sanitation” Project

A Loan Contract for “Sarajevo Water Supply and Sanitation” Project was signed today between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), by Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers o B-H and Minister of Finance and Treasury Dragan Vrankić and Head of Office of EBRD in B-H Giulio Moreno. Minister Vrankić signed a Grant Contract between Bosnia and Herzegovina and EBRD for Financing Operative and Technical Assistance for Implementation of the Law on Borrowing, Debt and Guarantees of B-H, which the EBRD had signed sometime earlier.
The Loan worth EUR 30 million is intended for the Project of reconstruction and rehabilitation of priority components of water supply and sewage system of Sarajevo Canton. It will be disbursed in two equal tranches of EUR 15 million each with the repayment term of 15 years. The complete Loan is allocated to the Federation of B-H.
The value of EBRD Grant is EUR 295,000, and these funds will be the source of technical assistance to the Ministry of Finance and Treasury for development of by-laws and their harmonisation at all levels of B-H authority, with an aim at facilitation of implementation of laws in force.
Minister Vrankić thanked to EBRD for its financial support to B-H, especially the support directed to economic development.
- Over the past four year EBRD has signed project in B-H of total value of about EUR 600 million to finance a number of projects. We are still open for all projects that might help improve B-H economy, stated Moreno. He said that over the past period, working together with the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, the EBRD has had an excellent cooperation and understanding for which he expressed his gratitude to the Ministry.
