BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA TAKEN OFF LIST OF COUNTRIES HAVING DEFICIENCIES IN COMBATING FINANCING TERRORISM LEGAL FRAMEWORK

The 52nd Plenary Session of MONEVAY, taking place on December 6-8, 2016, considered the progress of countries under MONEYVAL jurisdiction, which have been identified as having deficiencies in their respective legal frameworks concerning FATF recommendation on combating financing terrorism and respective measures targeting terrorism and financing terrorism. 

Within a MONEYVAL Report, the Committee learned that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina took a Decision on implementation of UNSC resolution 1373, the Decision being already in applied.

Following their analysis of the Decision, the MONEYVAL Secretariat concluded that the relevant Decision represents a legal framework for the UNSR resolution 1373 implementation The Decision establishes the basics for inclusion into a relevant list individuals, who turn up there in accordance with the UN resolution 1373 criteria.

Due to above reasons and taking into consideration the achieved progress, the MONEYVAL Committee took a conclusio0n, at tis 52th plenary, to take Bosnia and Herzegovina off the list of countries with deficiencies in their legal framework, and further application of the legal framework will be monitored within the regular assessment of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s progress, scheduled for the 4th round of MONEYVAL evaluation.
