Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BIH Staša Košarac pointed at the importance of application of clean energy in winter touristic destinations, where reduced pollution represents an imperative, at the opening of “Hydrogen in Transport and Industry” International Forum, on the Mount of Jahorina.

Minister Košarac said that both the Forum and first ecological dive, preceding it, are good chance to promote efforts on definition of ecologic policies with adherence to all international agreements BIH signed, like the Green Agenda, Sofia Declaration and Energy Community Treaty. He underlined that it should show a clear contribution not only to introduction of European standards, often conditioned upon difference political connotations, but they contribute to preserving of nature.

He noted that it necessary to secure that SMEs are competitive at the European and other markets, stressing that it requires reforms.

“Through our participation with the Energy Community, we make serious breakthroughs in application of all standards when it comes to use of renewable sources of energy. We are occupied by ideas of transforming certain facilities using fossil fuels. We want to encourage SMEs to this kind of transformation, i.e. use of renewable sources of energy”, Minister Košarac said.

Minister Košarac announced elaboration of a study “Effects of climate change to winter tourism – BIH practice”, engaging experts, the results of which study will be presented this July.

The Forum expressed expectations for the first ecologic drive by bus with zero emission of .carbon-dioxide, which preceded the Forum, to be a starting point for further development of technology and tis use in BIH, including hydrogen production.

The Forum on Jahorina is a part of JIVE and JIVE2 Project that started in January 2017 and 2018, and under the project, 310 buses with fuel cells with zero emission will be distributed in 17 European cities and regions, which is the major implementation in Europe to date. The Forum on Jahorina is the place where a dialogue was open for the first time on the most frequent driving energy and extraordinary effects of its application. The importance of use of clear energy in regions of winter touristic destinations was underlined, in which reduced pollution represents an imperative. (end)
