EUR 600,000 Public Investment Management Contract Signed

The Swedish International Development Agency will finance an effective public investment management project in Finance Ministries of finance at BIH and Entity levels in amount of EU 600,000.

A contact signed today between Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury dr. Nikola Špirić and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden in BIH Bose Hedberg, will enable the implementation of the project.

The project, worth 6,300,000 Swedish krona (approximately equivalent EUR 600,000) aims to enhance capacities the Ministry of Finance and Treasury and Ministries of Finance of Republika Srpska and of Federation of BIH,  in addition to those of other bodies included into the public finance management system.

Minister Špirić underlined that it is only investments that can boost economic growth in BIH, mentioning the projects of construction of hydro power plants and works on road communication, like the Corridor V c or Doboj-Banja Luka motorway construction.

Ambassador Hedberg said that Sweden is still ready to support BIH and that it will offer a concrete support to it on its road to the EU, the proof of which commitment is this project.

Specific aims of the project are, among other things, to improve the quality of project proposals, to be submitted by BIH institutions, for financing from budget, loans or grant funds, including IPA funds.

This way, the public investment programme will become a key instrument for adjustment of sector priorities with development funds availability and national development aims, including the EU integrations process other development priorities.
