Hadžić – Brenner: Taking control over BIH Skies Starts in October 2014

Minister of Communications and Transport of BIH Damir Hadžić talked in Brussels with Director General of EUROCTONTROL Frank Brenner on future activities of BHANSA in the process of taking over control over BIH skies.

Minister Hadžić said that there is a clear and unanimous position in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the state level that that the BHATM project implementation is a priority for BIH.

Director Banner concluded that a great move forward was made in the process of taking over responsibility for service provision of separation of air traffic in FIR Sarajevo by the BH ACC.

The meeting agreed that a breakthrough was made by efforts of the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BIH to set-up a state agency for service provision in air navigation (BHANSA), closing down the Entity directorates and releasing Entity budgets from multi-million expenditures. EUROCONTROL extended a technical assistance to BIH in this undertaking.

Minister Hadžić informed Director Banner that BIH takes further activities on taking over the BIH skies, pursuant to the transition plan, and that initial operations by BH ACC will start on October 16, 2014. He said that the opening of the air space for civil air traffic above Kosovo this April will increase significantly the number of over the FIR Sarajevo, which would have a beneficial effect to the revenue collection for BHANSA.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is fully determined to cooperate with the neighbouring countries, in order to complete, as successfully as possible, the transition period of taking over responsibility for air traffic separation in its air space”, Minister Hadžić said.
