Hadžić: Mid June for Launch of Construction of Bridge over Sava River near Svilaj

A Contract for Supervision of Construction of Inter-State Bridge over the River Sava, near Svilaj, worth KM 638.123.77 was signed today between the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina and “IG” Institute for Construction from Banja Luka, by Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina Damir Hadžić and Manager of “IG” Banja Luka Slobodan Stanarević.

The supervisory activities will be accrued out by civil engineer-coordinator with an engineering team, in compliance with the relevant legal regulations of BIH, and taking into account provisions of Work Contract, FIDIC from 2006. As it is a joint undertaking of construction of inter-State bridge between BIH and the Republic of Croatia, the supervision operations will be carried out jointly with a team to be selected by the “Croatian Motorways”.

The Contract on Supervision of bridge construction over the River Sava near Svilaj will take effect once the Ministry of Communications and Transport, as investor, notifies “IG” Banja Luka on fulfilment of conditions for the launch of its supervisory services, i.e. after the selection of developer.

“The Inter-governmental committee for public procurement for developer at the inter-State bridge near Svilaj will give its proposal for developer, this May. After both the EBRD and EIB approve the proposal for developer, a Contract on Construction of Bridge will be prepared and developer will be introduced to the construction site. The launch of works is expected by mid-June 2013”.

The construction of the bridge will allow connection of motorway on the Corridor V c in the Republic of Croatia with a road section in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the second half of 2013, we will provide for an intensive construction activity, not only bridges but other planned motorway sections on the Corridor V c, as well, and generate new jobs, with an ultimate goal to for domestic companies to get involved as developers not only for the construction of the Corridor V c, but also in other infrastructural projects in the region and beyond, Minister of Communications and Transport Damir Hadžić said.
