Hadžić – Yildrim: To Make Additional Efforts to Improve Economic Cooperation



Minister of Communications and Transport of BIH Damir Hadžić received in Sarajevo Minister of Transport of the Republic of Turkey Binali Yildrim, with whom he discussed the improvement of economic relations between the two countries.

The interlocutors expressed their satisfaction for the relations between the two countries are well in all areas, and concluded that additional efforts are necessary o intensify still weak economic relations. As a solid foundation for exchange of goods and economic cooperation they referred to a good communication linkage between BIH and Turkey, proven by 25 air flights a week.

Minister Hadžić informed Minister Yildrim on the current status of infrastructural projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, like motorway along the corridor V c, revitalisation of the Brčko Port and water way of the River Sava.

“We aim to complete the motorway along the Corridor V c, make the Sava River navigable and revitalise the Brčko Port by year 2020”, all of which would connect South to North of the country in terms of infrastructure and transport by a high pass road and railway corridors that would make a backbone of the economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Each and every support in this undertaking is welcome”, Minister Hadžić said.

Minister Yildrim stressed that Turkish companies are already engaged in construction of the Corridor V c motorways and that there is an interest for the constitution of the cooperation. He said that Turkey is interested to offer support to BIH in revitalisation of the water way of the River Sava, including the extension of cooperation with the Railways of Federation of BIH, from which only traction engines are rented currently. He emphasised that Turkey is also interested in cooperation in the telecommunications sector, in which Turkish companies actively look for prospective partners in BIH.

Minister Yildrim extended an invitation to Minister Hadžić to attend the opening ceremony of the First Phase of Marmaray Project, maritime railway connection of Europe and Asia, connecting the two coasts of Bosporus.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Transport and Communications of FBIH Enver Bijelić.
