Meeting Hadžić-Burotn: Soon establishing of Public RTV Broadcasters Corporation

Minister of Communications and Transport of BIH Damir Hadžić talked in Sarajevo today with OSCE Mission Chief in BIH Fletcher M. Burton on current Ministry’s tasks and priorities. 

Minister Hadžić informed Ambassador Burton that the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BIH defined projects of strategic importance for BIH with a focus on infrastructural communications and regional cooperation.

OSCE Mission Chief in BIH Burton assessed as positive commitment of the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BIH to, imlpement, following multi year delay, a radio-diffusion digitalisation project in BIH and thereby help reform the public RTV services from the viewpoint of their financial sustainability and professional independence.

Ambassador Burton offered to Minister Hadžić all necessary expert assistance of OSCE in the implementation of activities of the Ministry of Communications and Transport plans, especially in the field of medial legal regulation.

The meeting assessed that a smooth implementation of digitalisation project is of a special importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and concluded that since the whole undertaking requires somewhat over two years, it is necessary to set-up a corporation of Public RTV Broadcasters in BIH.
