Minister of Communications and Transport of BIH Damir Ljubić with his assistants visited Banja Luka where he held discussion with Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Aleksandar Džombić and Minister of Transport and Communications of RS Nedeljko Ćubrilović on railways, Foča-Šćepan Polje road reconstruction, BHATM global transition plan and transport and communications sector related IPA projects.
Upon a proposal of Minister Hadžić, it was agreed to introduce as new inter-Entity railway line Bihać-Banja Luka – Sarajevo – Mostar in order to revitalise railway passenger transport and improve linkage of regional economic centres within BIH. They agreed on continuing restructuring of the Managing Board of the Public Railways Corporation of BIH, aimed at the reduction of operative costs and improved efficacy of the Managing Board.
In order to achieve better infrastructural linkage between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, they discussed the reconstruction of Foča-Šćepan Polje road. Minister Ćubrilović informed Minister Hadžić that the reconstruction of this road section is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of RS, and emphasised that the project documentation is currently being prepared for this project.
Ministers Hadžić and Ćubrilović and Prime Minister Džombić discussed the BHATM transition plan, i.e. taking over of a full control of skies over Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was agreed that the realisation of the global transition plan needs to start, under which the first phase of taking over flight control over Bosnia and Herzegovina should start by end November 2012.
On the proposed IPA projects from the sector of transport and communications, a joint conclusion was that the transport and communications sector IPA projects, worth over EUR 50 million, were agreed and submitted.
