Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović met today with Ms. Branislava Milekić, Director General of the Republic of Elektroprivreda RS and her associates, Mr. Marko Mitrović, Director of HET and his associates, representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining of RS, ISO BiH, Elektroprenos BiH and ITA. The subject of the meeting was the electricity produced at HPP Dubrovnik which belongs to Elektroprivreda Srpske in the Republika Srpska.

Croatian transmission company Elektroprivreda made a unilateral decision on November 1, 1994 to connect unit No.1 of the HPP Dubrovnik with the Croatian power system and in doing so on their own initiative it undermined the technological and distribution system of electricity from HPP Trebinje I.

Putting TS PLAT into operation leads to additional changes in the configuration of the electricity network between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia. Linking a 220 kV transmission line through the new TS Plat, both 220 kV transmission lines become interconnective, so it is essential to provide cross-border transmission capacity for placement of energy through them. The provision of transmission capacity generally requires additional costs and in extreme cases "congestion" may prevent placement of energy.

Considering that these problems are very important and complex, and taking into account the time period without reaching a solution, MoFTER, lead by Minister Šarović, and with the support of relevant institutions, will delegate this issue to the level of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and then to relevant institutions of the Republic of Croatia.

MoFTER BiH, ITA, IOS and SERC will advocate that the electricity produced in HPP Dubrovnik have the same status as the electricity produced in BiH.
