Minister Špirić Talks with EU and IMF Representatives



Deputy Chairman f the Council of Ministers of BIH and Minster of Finance and Treasury Dr Nikola Špirić received Head of Directorate for Western Balkans of the EU Directorate General for Enlargement Pierre Mirel and Head of Mission of the International Monetary find in BIH Costas Cristou.

Minister Šppirić informed the EU and IMF representatives of the process of adoption of the 2012 BIH Budget and envisioned public spending reductions, and stressed that the funds werre provided for all BIH institutions pivotal for the EU integration process.

Mirel said that the adoption of this year’s budget is a key issue for BIH, not only in the financial terms, but also for tis adoption affects the dynamic BIH’s moving along the road to the EU.

Christou reminded that the IMF delegation is in a two-day visit to BIH in order to evaluate the economic situation and launch discussion on the prospective continuation of cooperation.

The meeting highlighted the fact that the IMF arrangement is connected to the EU macrofinancial assistance, and that the eventual future arrangement depends of readiness of all level authorities in BIH to embrace structural reforms.

The meeting was attended by Head of Department for BIH in the EU Directorate General for Enlargement Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Head of EU Delegation in BIH Renzo Daviddi and IMF resident representative Milan Cuc.
