Minister Špirić talks with EUROSTAT Director



Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH and Minister of Finance and Treasury of BIH dr Nikola Špirić talked in Sarajevo today with EUROSTAR Director Peter Everaers who is visiting BIH in order to get informed of the preparations for the census of population in BIH.

Minister Špirić informed Everaes that upon a proposal of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BIH, the Fiscal Council of BIH has already taken a Decision to include in the 2012-2014 Global Fiscal Framework funds for the census of population in BIH, scheduled for next April.

Everaes reminded that the Managing Committee of the International Monitoring Mission is involved in monitoring of preparations for the census of population in BIH, conducting tis first monitoring mission this April, and that the time has come for issuing of the report of the second monitoring mission, completed few day ago.

They underlined that the monitoring showed that there are certain impediments in the census project management, which need to be removed so that the census operation would not be delayed.

Minister Špirić proposed a meeting, where Chairman of the Council of Ministers Vjekoslav Bevanda would hold discussion with representatives of foreign agencies involved in the census operation and the EU Delegation representatives, in order to help remove all possible obstacles and avoid delay in implementation of census next April.

Everaes supported the proposal of the BIH Minister of Finance and Treasury, and added that it is important that the authorities of BIH also vow their support to the census preparations, as it was the practice in the countries of the region.

Minister Špirić said that the census of population in BIH is one amongst most important and long awaited projects, so it should be implemented within the established deadlines.
