Minister Špirić Talks with Japanese Ambassador in BIH

Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH and Minister of Finance and Treasury Dr Nikola Špirić received today Ambassador of Japan in BIH Hideo Yamazaki

The agreed that the bilateral relations between the two countries are extremely well, but that the economic cooperation is necessary to be strengthened, which should be preceded by a conclusion of inter-government agreements from various sectors.

Minister Špirić thanked to the Ambassador of Japan for his country’s strong support of the past reconstruction efforts in BIH through various grant programmes, including the multilateral support. He added that there is a space for cooperation in the area of tourism, as Japanese citizens are often visitors to the region, and that BIH as a country has its touristic capacities.

Ambassador Yamaky said that his priority activity will be to present BIH to tourists in his country, as the available data suggest 550.000 Japanese tourists visit Croatia on annual basis, while only 5,000 visit Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Japanese Ambassador said it is necessary to connect business people in order to create business favouring environment.

The meeting highlighted the importance of BIH taking all needed measures to step-up its EU integrations process, and one among prerequisites for that is the adoption of this year’s Budget, which provides the funds for all institutions having a key role in the European integrations process.
