Ministry of Defence
In accordance with the provisions of the Law, the competences of the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina are as follows:
a) Establishing and maintaining defence capabilities to ensure the protection of the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence, and international subjectivity of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
b) Representing Bosnia and Herzegovina in international relations related to defence matters;
c) Oversight of all entities within the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
d) Drafting, reviewing, and updating the defence policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is approved by the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
e) Developing and approving policies and regulations regarding the organization, administration, training, equipping, and use of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
f) Ensuring that Bosnia and Herzegovina complies with its international obligations related to defence;
g) Activating reserve units for all operations, except for planned training;
h) Deployment or use of any part of the Armed Forces outside Bosnia and Herzegovina for all operations or training activities;
i) Issuing instructions to the Chief of the Joint Staff of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the use or deployment of units of the Armed Forces within Bosnia and Herzegovina for purposes other than training;
j) Establishing procedures for approving military assistance to civilian authorities in the event of natural disasters and emergencies, as authorized by the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
k) Establishing procedures that ensure transparency in the functions of the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
l) Other competences defined by law.
