Bevanda – Abreau: Gratitude for Assistance in Post-Flood Recovery

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda expressed his gratitude today in Sarajevo to Director of the World Bank BIH Office Anabela Abreu for the assistance which the World Bank extended to Bosnia and Herzegovina for mitigating the aftermaths of recent catastrophic floods. 

Chairman Bevanda especially thanked for both technical assistance in damage assessment and financial assistance, in addition to organising and taking part at the Donor Conference in Brussels.

He said that the funds were earmarked to the Entities, but expressed his concern over the slowness of project implementation and funds distribution to local communities, especially in view of the up-coming rainy and snowy season.

Director Abreau informed Chairman Bevanda of the major World Bank activities in BIH, stressing that an analyse of the economic state of BIH is underway, to include the basic development challenges and directions of future activities. Amended Joint Partnership Procedures will be presented to the Fiscal Council of BIH in the period to come.  She also informed Chairman Bevanda that the DPL Programme for business environment improvement will be presented to the World Bank Board in end September.

The meeting also discussed the up-coming Annual Meetings of the World Bank and IMF to be held this October.
