Bevanda: BIH Council of Ministers Fulfiled 24 out of 26 Goals

Chairman Bevanda reminded Füle that a continuous effort resulted in fulfilment, within an extremely short deadline, of 24 out of 16 Road Map requirements. He expressed his regret for the remaining two goals remained unachieved, and expressed his hope that a solution would be eventually found in the coming period for the implementation of Sejdić-Finci ruling and for setting-up an effective EU coordination mechanism, so that the Stabilisation and Accession Agreement may take effect, and BIH get a chance to fill a credible application for the EU membership.
Commissioner Füle said the implementation of the ruling is of a vital importance for the European Union and it stands as a condition for the BIH membership candidacy to be taken into consideration.
The preparations for the Census of population, issues with IPA funds withdrawal, and the anticipated Republic of Croatia’s entry into the EU were also discussed. The meeting agreed that all issues in regard to implementation of goals should be solved, as there is no alternative to that, and that it is important for both BIH and the EU to embrace upon issue-solving in a more effective and accelerated manner.
The meeting was attended by EU Special representative and head of EU Delegation in BIH Peter Sorensen, Director of the DG for Enlargement Stefano Saninno and Ambassador Igor Davidović, Head of BIH Mission in the EU.
