Bevanda – Helbach: Germany Views BIH as A Part of European Union

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda received in an introductory visit Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in BIH Christian Hellbach. Chairman Bevnada congratulated to Ambassador Hellbach for his appointment and expressed his pleasure for the good relations between BIH and the FR Germany to date. 

He informed the Ambassador of the preparations for the Berlin Conference of heads of Governments of Western Balkans, to be hosted by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel. He added that a meeting of four Prime Ministers of the region is planned to be held in connection with the conference in Cavtat next Monday, when they will define joint goals towards the economic progress and reaffirm their commitment to the continuation of regional cooperation related programmes.

Ambassador Hellbach emphasised that he is pleased for the beginning of his term being marked by the interest of the FR Germany for the region. He said that the FR Germany sees the region as a part of the European Union and that it will work on its approximation to the EU, underlining a particular significance of the European integrations idea, and adding that BIH is geographically situated in the centre of Europe.

Ambassador Hellbach said on this occasion that it is a great peace project of a great importance, and that without Western Balkans such project would not be complete. He said that the strengthening of economic cooperation will be the focus of future intensive work for the interest of both BIH and the FR Germany.
