Bevanda – Mrkić: To Prepare Grounds for Better Future by Joint Effort

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda met today in Sarajevo with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkić. 

During the meeting, Chairman Bevanda said that bilateral relations between BIH and the Republic of Serbia are good neighbourly and stable, and underlined that the regional cooperation, BIH’s integration into the EU and its road to NATO are strategic foreign policy aims of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He expressed his wish that after a long stalemate the Intre-State Cooperation Council resume its work so that both states could more easily realise the same priority, which is moving along the European integrations path and ultimate accession to the European Union.

Minister Mrkić expressed his pleasure with his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and said that every success that takes place in the neighbourhood produces content in Serbia.

“We have to draw a line, start working together and show the world that we are serious and mature, Therefore, we have to seek to intensify our cooperation and secure that officials in the Council of Ministers of BIH and Government of the Republic of Serbia meet via electronic communications at least twice a month. We have to prepare the ground for future and work intensively on our present day”, this was the message from today’s meeting.

Chairman Bevanda and Minister Mrkić assessed as extremely favourable today’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Council of Ministers and Government if the Republic of Serbia on Cooperation in the EU Integrations Matters, which represents a new way forward in relations of the two countries.
