Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda talked in Sarajevo with President of Slovenia Borut Pahor on the current situation in BIH after catastrophic floods. Chairman Bevnada said that Slovenia was amongst first states to come to help. 

“I express hereby the utmost gratitude to you personally, to your government and your citizens for showing your solidarity and support and for approving, in critical moments, sending  helicopters and boats for evacuation of citizens in flooded areas and for subsequent food and medicines delivery to our citizens”, Chairman Bevanda said during the meeting.

President Pahor said he came to Bosnia and Herzegovina as a sincere friend and with a wish for Slovenia to provide assistance to people affected by floods. Speaking of the cooperation between the two states, President Pahor said that although it is good, there is still a lot of room to make it even better.

Chairman Bevanda thanked to President Pahor for the activities of Slovenian representatives in the European Parliament who strongly advocate for soon opening of the European Union door to BIH to enable launching of the accession negotiation process. He informed the high visitor of the fact that despite all challenges facing it, BIH made s modest recovery last year, which demonstrates that BIH has a proper vision for future.  He added that all efforts invested produced positive results and that last year’s macroeconomic indicators showed a light GDP growth, industrial production growth of 6.2%, exports increase of 65 etc. He underlined that it is important to preserve jobs in this difficult situation and that the real sector development needs to be intensified, implying the improvement of business environment conditions.

President Pahor said Slovenia will continue to extend a full support to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its way to the European Union and NATO. Chairman Bevanda congratulated to President Pahor for the “Isa-bey Iisaković” award presented to him yesterday evening in a ceremony held in the National Theatre in Sarajevo.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of BIH Damir Ljubić, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in BIH Iztok Grmek and General Manager of the Directorate for Protection and rescue of the Republic of Slovenia Darko But.
