Bevanda – Reichel: FR Germany Is Main Proponent of BIH in EU

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevnda met in Sarajevo with a special envoy of for Western Balkans and Turkey in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the FR Germany Dr Ernst Riechel, with whom he discussed the current political situation in BIH, with a special focus on both the Strasbourgh Court ruling in case “Sejdić-Finci” against BIH and the non-adoption of an effective BIH coordination mechanism for the EU integrations. 

Envoy Raichel said that the FR Germany follows with a great attention developments in BIH, and supports its European way and dedication to the regional cooperation , which is one among conditions for the stability and progress of the region in a whole. He said that it is important for all peoples of BIH to comply to the existing Constitution and that BIH politicians must take effort to solve problems on their own. He added that when all should aspire to that aim, a positive outcome for BIH would not be hard to achieve.

Chairman Bevanda thanked for the support which the FR Germany extends to BIH on its way to the Euroepan Union, adding that BIH sees Germany as its principle proponent in Europe. He stressed that he has always been supportive of the adherence to the Constitution and constitutional solutions, and agreed that it is the only right way for peoples in BIH.

They agreed that in the coming period it is necessary to solve the remaining two issues from the Road Map so that BIH might be able to take forward its European integrations.
