Bevanda – Tuomioja: Priority to Regional Cooperation

Chairman Bevanda thanked for the expressions of condolences and sympathies extended by the Government and people of Finland. He underlined the importance of assistance in amount of EUR 200,000 that this country allocated right away to assist the affected population. Minister Tuomioja said that he is encouraged by the cooperation citizens demonstrated during the floods. He added that the European Union and its members will support reconstruction efforts of destroyed parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Chairman Bevanda informed Minister Tuomioja of the fact that EU, World bank and United Nations experts and consultants currently cooperate with local experts on damage assessment after the floods, and that the exercise is expected to be completed by June 18, 12014.
Minister Tuomioja was interested for the challenges BIH faces on its road to the EU, saying that the European Union wants BIH to go along the European road together with its neighbours.
The meeting agreed that support must be given to a regional cooperation, as the one during the natural disaster which was marked by a great human solidarity removing all the existing barriers, shown needs to be support in the coming period of time.
