Chairman Bevanda Talks with Assistant UN Secretary General for Political Affairs

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda received in Sarajevo today Assistant UN Secretary General for Political Affairs Oscar Fernández-Taranco. 

Assistant UN Secretary General Fernández-Taranco congratulated to Chairman Bevanda for his appointment and demonstrated leadership of the Council of Ministers of BIH which began to be apparent soon after the appointment. He used the opportunity to congratulate to Bosnia and Herzegovina for its remarkable role during its membership in the UN Security Council, expressing his gratitude for a devoted activity of our country in peace building, security and preventive diplomacy exercise at the international political arena.

“For what it learnt from its own post-conflict peace building and democratic institutions development experiences, Bosnia and Herzegovina s able to offer a lot to the international community in terms of a sustainable development based building of a common society”, said Assistant UN Secretary General Fernández-Taranco.

Thanking to congratulations, Chairman Bevanda said that the Un Security Council membership was a great honour and challenge for Bosnia and Herzegovina. He said that other than changed position of the country at the international political scene, the membership in the Security Council played a major role internally, as it promoted decision-making processes in BIH institutions.

Chairman Bevanda said that the 20th anniversary of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s admission to the United Nations as its 177th member, and underlined that during that period of time, the UN and its agencies played a vital role in sustainable peace building and stabilising of BIH institutions. He expressed his expectations that the relation of partnership of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the United Nations will continue in future, too.

Assistant UN Secretary General Fernández-Taranco expressed his unreserved support to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its Euro-Atlantic way and development of a society based on inclusive dialogue, coordination and sustainable development.
