Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevnada received for a call Prime Minister of New Zealand John Key, and expressed his pleasure Sarajevo hosts a conference of major global organisation of people’s parties. He informed the guest on the process of formation of executive authorities in BIH after the elections of last October. 

Prime Minister Key thanked, on behalf of the people of New Zealand, for support received from BIH for selection for membership in the Security Council of UN for 201-2016.

The meeting assessed bilateral relations of BIH and New Zealand as good, but stressed a wish for their improvement, despite a great geographical distance, especially in areas of the interest for both states.

Chairman Bevanda informed Prime Minister Key with capacities of our state and underlined the importance of energy sector, wood processing potentials and road corridors, emphasising especially the Corridor V c and Adriatic-Ionian motorway.

The Prime Ministers agreed about a need for continued strengthening of economic and trade cooperation. They concluded that there is room for improvements in agriculture, food industry, tourism and energy sectors, and that commercial relations are necessary to enhance, in addition to facilitating SMEs cooperation. Encouragement of contacts is noted as necessary for cooperation of BIH and New Zealand. It was concluded that although the BIH Diaspora in New Zealand is not numerous it may have a function of connection line in strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
