Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Vesna Pusić signed, in Brussels, in the presence of EU officials, a Contract on Border Crossings and Agreement on Cross-Border Transport between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.

In his address on the occasion, Chairman Bevanda said that high quality solutions might be arrived at if there is a joint goal and mutual confidence.

“Signing of the both Contract and Agreement enables everyday life to go on for the BIH people. This will bring prosperity to all. The agreements will help BIH and Croatian economies”, Chairman Bevanda stressed.

The Contract on border-crossings defines border crossings at the state border between BIH and the Republic of Croatia for international road transport of passengers and goods in line with contracting parties’ respective legislation, and they are subject to inspection checks on transport through the joint border. Also, the Contract defines the border crossings for international road transport of passengers and goods, including transport of fruits and vegetables and under both contracting parties’ respective legislation, which is subject to checks of compliance to market standards and control of health safety on transport through the joint border. At the same time, border crossings were identified for international transport of passengers and goods and for road and railway transport, including through permanent border crossings for the small cross-border traffic.

The Agreement on cross-border transport sets forth the cross-border regime, i.e. the rule system to regulate the transport on border area between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia. On crossing the joint state border under conditions of the cross-border regime, holders of cross-border passes are exempted form visa regime.
