Chairman of Council of Ministers of BIH talks with Director General of EU DG for Enlargement

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Nikola Špirić received Director General of the EU DG for Enlargement Stefan Sannino, with whom he talked on the Progress Report for Bosnia and Herzegovina, judiciary reform, IPA programming, BIH Electric Power Transmission Company, and Corridor V c construction. 

After the meeting, Chairman Špirić and Director Sannino addressed to media.

“I think that it is a good thing that we have an increased presence of the European Commission on the ground in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which means more support to the Institutions of BIH on its European way. I am especially pleased to see that this cooperation is going to be even stronger and with more evident results in future. What is common to all problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and what we addressed at our today’s meeting, can be summarised in two words: coordination and dialogue. A lack of these brought about delays on the European way, therefore I find the recommendations that the European Commission conveyed to us useful for the period to come. I briefed Director Sannino about status of on-going projects, the implementation of which will secure submission of a credible membership application. These are Law on Census, Law on State Aid, and Implementation of Sejdić&Finci award”, Chairman Špirić said.

“As I said to all my interlocutors over the past several days, the European prospect of Bosnia and Herzegovina is very clear and concrete and that we are here only to support this European prospect. Over the past several months we defined the basic elements that must be fulfilled in order to pass on to the next phase of moving towards European Union, so that the Progress Report published by the European Commission indicates clearly the key areas to which, in our opinion, our joint activities should focus. We are ready to work jointly with Bosnia and Herzegovina in these areas and offer appropriate financial support”, Director Sannino stated.
