Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić visited Tešanj, where he attended the opening ceremony of the International Economic Fair – Tešanj 2018. 

Chairman Zvizdić addressed to the event, saying that the promotion of BIH economy is one of the paramount aims of all-level authorities of BIH, and touched upon the achievements made over the last year.

He stressed that it was, primarily, the promotion of Bosnia dn Hzeregvina’s economy, strengthening of dfianancial discipline, better structured public expenditures, improvement of overall business climate, and increased competitiveness of our economy, which is evident form the improved most important economic parameters in BIH.

He briefed the event on the positive economic parameters, which marked the past three years. He pointed at the GDP growth, along with the growth of industrial production, and decrease of unemployment, as the most encouraging data, which undoubtedly testify of the progress achieved and effects of the reforms implemented. He also noted the reduction of public debt, growth of hard currency reserves and increase of FDI inflow.

Chairman Zvizdić said that our main foreign trade partner is again the European Union, CEFTA and EFTA countries. He added that the growth trend in foreign trade exchange continues, and that BIH exported mainly to Germany, Croatia, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Austria, and Turkey. He said that this all came mainly as the result of activities undertaken by all-level authorities in BIH. When it comes to the Council of Ministers of BIH, he emphasised the importance of adoption of the Excises Law, which will start-up the most important civil construction works in BIH. He also mentioned adoption of the Resolution on conditions and procedure for exercising the right to freeing form import fees, to the favour of almost 200 companies. He mentioned the adoption of the Rural Development Strategy and a series of trade agreement which enabled export of a number of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s products to the European, Turkish and Russian markets.

He turned to the tourism sector, a great development potential for Bosnia and Herzegovina and economic filed which makes a steady growth.

He reiterated that the Council of Ministers will continue its activities, bringing our country closer to the European Union, it will work on strengthening of the rule of law and combating against all forms of crime and corruption, strengthening of business environment and boosting the competitiveness of BIH economy.

As a contribution by the Council of Ministers of BIH, he noted the inclusion of BIH into the transport community, which will enable the realisation of four projects worth EUR 240 million, with grant funds worth EUR 46 million. He mentioned the agreed to construction of motorway to ling Sarajevo with Belgrade, which will surely have a positive impact not only to the civil construction industry, but to other segments of BIH economy, as well.

Chairman Zvizdić said that the a lot of work and effort took place last year in the European integrations process and handing over answers to the European Commission Questionnaire, which was one of the most demanding phases in the EU integrations, after which we expect the awarding of the candidate status to improve considerably the relationship between BIH and the European Union and enable us an access to new funds and new investments.

At the end of his address, Chairman Zvizdić expressed his satisfaction and honour for the Council of Ministers of BIH to be sponsor of the 14th International Economic Fair – 2018 Tešanj, taking place in one of the economically most successful municipalities in BIH.
