Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić attended in Brussels today a Western Balkans Leaders’ meeting, summoned by Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative and EC Vice-president for foreign and Security Policy. 

In his address, Chairman Zvizdić highlighted the importance of continuity of dialogue, saying that the regional cooperation and mutual confidence are key to improvement of political and economic relations, FDI attraction, preserving of stability and advancement of reconciliation process.

He said that BIH is committed to principles, aims and values of the European Union and that it will continue working on progress in all processes, with a special focus at socio-economic reforms.

Chairman Zvizdić said that BIH is currently in the phase of finalisation of responses to additional questions of the European Commission, within preparations of an opinion on BIH application for EU membership.

He stressed the importance of continued engagement of the European Union in support to stability and strengthening of political and economic ties within the Western Balkans region, as well as of our region with the European Union.

He emphasised that BIH remains fully committed to a further continuation of regional cooperation with a view of keeping peace and stability, and stressed the importance of compliance with international obligations, as well as those taken by from the existing regional and international agreements, with a focus at CEFTA Agreement and Stabilisation and Accession Agreement.

Chairman Zvizdić said that the principle of respect of sovereignty of territorial integrity of each and every country is a prerequisite for further stabilisation and prosperity, not only of every individual country but of the entire region, and expressed his optimism that the continuation of dialogue based on mutual respect and affirmative political will lead to joint efforts in realisation of key priorities in the Western Balkans region.

The meeting was attended by Presidents of Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo*, Prime Minister of Macedonia, and EU Commissioner for enlargement Johannes Hahn.
