A special focus was paid to an announced visit of Pope Francis to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Chairman of the Council of Ministers informed the Apostolic Nuncio of the prearrangements BIH takes in order to be prepared for this important event.
Chairman Zvizdić emphasised the importance of the visit by Pope Francis to Bosnia and Herzegovina. That would be an occasion to send out messages of peace, co-existence and tolerance, as it is a centuries-long feature of BIH. He said it would also provide an excellent chance to draw attention of Europe and of the whole world to BIH, which should result in encouragement for its accelerated moving along the European integrations way.
Chairman Zvizdić informed the Apostolic Nuncio on the current priorities of the Council of Ministers of BIH, namely, economic development, stepped-up European integrations of BIH, and serious combat against organised crime, corruption and terrorism. It was noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina is abundant of potentials and natural resources which should benefit country’s economic prosperity.
The meeting also discussed possible ways to overcome standstill on the implementation of the Basic Agreement between the Holy See and BIH. Apostolic Nuncio Pezzuto requested a support for adoption of a law on days-off during religious holidays. The meeting discussed on a need to appoint members of the Joint Committee for implementation of the Basic Agreement.
