Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić met, within this visit to the Council of Europe, with Secretary –General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland. 

They discussed the importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s chairmanship of the Council of Europe and on a new approach of het European Union towards Bosnia and Herzegovina. They emphasised the relevance of taking effect of the Stabilisation and Accession Agreement between BIH and the European Union, adoption of the economic reform agenda, and a series of laws and strategies aimed to step-up the European road of BIH.

Chairman Zvizdić thanked to Secretary-General Jagland for his assistance and active role in realisation of the most important events during the chairmanship of Bosnia and Herzegovina of the Council of Europe. Secretary-General Jagland congratulated to Chairman Zvizdić for a fast action and taking off of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Moneyval grey list, and placing Bosnia and Herzegovina among the countries with a regular reporting procedure.

The Secretary-General was interested of the current political developments in BIH and the region in the light of migrant crisis and on preparedness of BIH for a possibility for acceptance of refugees in transit to Europe. Chairman Zvizdić said that BIH is ready to provide assistance, within its capacities, and that the Council of Ministers of BIH adopted operative plans, adding that the situation at BIH borders is monitored on daily basis.

The meeting was attended by  BIH Ambassador in the Council of Europe Almir Šahović.
