Chairman Zvizdić Talks with EBRD President

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizidć met in London with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabrati, with whom he discussed modalities of infrastructure projects and possibilities for BIH-EBRD partnership in road infrastructure, energy, agriculture, tourism and SMEs support. 

Chairman Zvizdić thanked to EBRD for its support to BIH, saying that this international institution has considerably assisted the economic recovery of BIH and the region. He briefed him of the political and economic developments in BIH.

During the meeting, Deputy Chairman and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BIH Mirko Šarović and Deputy EBRD Director Pierre Heilbronn, in the presence of the EBRD President and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Council of Ministers of BIH and EBRD on Cooperation in Support to Initiative for Investment Climate and Governance for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The EBRD President said on that occasion that they are committed to improving the business climate and that signing the Memorandum means that EBRD attaches importance to realised aims in BIH, stressing that the list of projects ready for realisation is the encouraging one. President Chakrabrati welcomed today’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding concerning implementation of infrastructure projects for construction of six sections of motorways in Bosnia and Herzegovina. That placed Bosnia and Herzegovina among countries receiving the highest level of ENRD investments in the Western Balkans region, thanks to well-prepared projects and presentation by BIH representatives, led by Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BIH Mirko Šarović, and due to the strategies and set of excise laws adopted.

Chairman Zvizdić and EBRD President Chakrabrati talked on the EBRD Conference to take place in Sarajevo next May. Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted its candidacy for hosting the event at the 2015 EBRD meeting in Tbilisi, following many technical and other checks, which was accepted by 65 governors of EBRD member-countries.
