Chairman of the Council of Ministers od BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić talked with Director of the European Union Agency for Statistics of (EUROSTAT) Pieter Everaes, and thanked to him for his engagement to date in the Census Operation in BIH. 

He stressed that the Census in Bosnia and Herzegovina is, equally as in other states, an extremely important instrument that creates a basis for strategies development relevant to overall development of the state. He said that the Council of Ministers of BIH fully supports positions of the Monitoring team, which are based on expertise, knowledge and experience, stressing that the census process should be completed in accordance with the applicable Law and international procedures, so that the resulting data might be internationally recognised.

Director Everaes said that the Census od population requires a special attention in all states as and in BIH, as well, and reminded of the relevance of statistical data for the European Union, mentioning EU statistic-related regulations - with a special accent on the statistics independence at the EU level and globally - international monitoring and possibilities for solving technical issues of the Census operation.

Chairman Zvizdić said that the Census is extremely important to BIH since the previous census took place very long time ago, since when many things have changed. He said that the BIH Agency for Statistics should be supported under condition that its operations are independent and professional, and underlined that the Council of Ministers of BIH will support everything that is in accordance with the statistics-related legislation and rules of the profession.

The meeting was attended by head of the European Union in BIH Lars Gunnar Wigemark.
