Chairman Zvizdić Talks with McDonald: UK Supports Reform Processes in BIH

Chairman o of the Council of Ministers of BIH Denis Zvizdić received in Sarajevo Permanent Under Secretary of Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Sir Simon McDonald, and thanked for important friendly support of the United Kingdom to Bosnia and Herzegovina in its European and Euro-Atlantic integrations. 

They agreed about the high quality of the bilateral relations of the two states with no outstanding issues. Sunder-Secretary McDonald said the United –kingdom supports the reform process in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He expressed his confidence that BIH will soon obtain the status of candidate country for membership in the European Union.

Chairman Zvizdić and Under Secretary McDonald also discussed the Western Balkans Summit to be held in London in 2018, with infrastructure and energy connectivity, digital economy, youth cooperation and security cooperation as the main topics.

They agreed that the economic relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom are modest, but that there is a considerable potential for the improvement thereof.

Chairman Zvizdić thanked to the Government of the United Kingdom for giving the importance to marking the Srebrenica anniversary, as the memory to the genocide victims.

Dr Zvizdić expressed his conviction that after leaving the European Union, the United Kingdom will continue supporting the reform processes in BIH on the road to the European Union. They agreed that the integration of the whole Western Balkans is of a key importance for both its political and economic stability and the European security.
