Chairman Zvizdić with Lecturers at International Conference on Official Statistics

Chainman Zvizdić thanked to guests for their participation at the first International Conference on Official Statistics, and noted the importance of possessing high quality data for development of economic and society, and welcomed the linking of science and profession of the realisation of that aim. He briefed the attendants of the realisation of numerous reforms that resulted in positive transformations and improvement of business environment in BIH. He emphasised Bosnia and Herzegovina's GDP growth, increased export, increased number f tourists, job creation, decrease f foreign trade deficit etc. He stressed the importance of a continuous activity on prevention and fight against terrorism, radicalism and all forms of extremism.
A visit to Chairman Zvizdić was paid by one of leading world probability theorists and professor at the renowned Imperial College and London School of Economics Dr Nicholas Bingham, together with professor of the Houston University Dr Rayan Kennedy, economic experts from the World Bank from Washington Faya Hayati and Dr Cesar Cancho, economist from the International Monetary Fund Deon Tanzer, Head of IMPAQ Office and Project Leader for USAID-MEASURE BIH from Washington Dr Ye Zhang, Regional Head of East Europe and Central Asia United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)Office Eduard Jongstra, as well as leading methodologist of the Italian State Statistics (ISTAT) Giulio Barcaroli.
The first International Conference on Official Statistics ICOS2017: Challenges, Possibilities and Directions of Future Development of Statistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina, taking place in Sarajevo on March 30-31. 2017gatheres over 200 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Macedonia, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Great Britain, Sweden, Poland, Luxembourg and the United States of America.
