Chairman Zvizdić with UN General Assembly President

Chairman Zvizdić thanked for a successful organisation of the solemn signing of a historic climate agreement, saying that the cooperation of all states is key to stopping extremely serious and destructive climate changes which might eventually lead to catastrophic consequences. He said he will take efforts so that Bosnia and Herzegovina would ratify the Agreement as early as possible. He noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina already implements a Strategy of Adjustment to Climate Change and Low-Carbon Development, to the ned of making Bosnia and Herzegovina become sustainable and progressive “green economy” by year 2025. He thanked to United Nations for the support it extended to Bosnia and Herzegovina during floods two years ago.
They discussed the issue of humanitarian crises caused by conflicts, poverty, climate change and natural disasters. In solving these problems, they shared their views of the importance of the first World Humanitarian Summit, to be organised by UN in Istanbul next month.
Chairman Zvizdić said BIH contributes the best ay to security and stability in the wolrd, sending tis policemen and military personnel to UN peace keeping missions. He emphasised that about 40 police officers from our country are engaged in peace missions in South Sudan, Cyprus, Liberia, Somalia and Afghanistan. Chairman Zvizdić said that BIH will continue these activities, and expressed his expectations that BIH would be more considerably represented within UN managerial staff.
The meeting was attended by BIH Ambassador in the USA Haris Hrle and Head of BIH Mission in UN Miloš Vukašinović.
