Chairwoman Krišto with the US Ministry of Energy Special Envoy for Global Energy Integration

Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Borjana Krišto held a meeting with Joshua Voltz, Special Envoy for Global Energy Integration from the Ministry fo Energy of the United States of America.

The meeting discussed issues of shared interest for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States of America, with a special emphasis to the South Gas Interconnection Project.

The importance of the project was pointed out for strengthening of energy security and regional cooperation in energy sector, including improvement of stability and reliability of energy supply in South-East Europe.

The Chairwoman said the Council of Ministers of BIH remains strongly committed to support to project that contribute to energy independence, investment attraction and acceleration of economic development, stressing that key obligations and responsibilities at this moment are with the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, noting a need for the sector Ministry of the Federation of BIH to submit a new initiative to the Council of Ministers with a new text draft agreement since relevant Law Amendments and Supplements  are currently in the adoption procedure in the BIH Parliament, therefore it necessitates amendment of the core parts of the agreement, referring, among other things, to the agreement title, route and investor.

As soon legal conditions are met, along with institutional preconditions at the Federation of BIH level, the Council of Minister of BIH may rightfully initiate a procedure of conclusion of the international agreement as per the Law on Conclusion and Execution of International Treaties, as soon as possible.
