Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Holds Its 97th Session

The Council of Ministers received a Report of the Ministry of Security on the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, after natural disaster, on aftermaths and needs assessment as at May 26, 2014.
According to first, yet unofficial data, Ma floods covered almost one fifth of the BIH territory, i.e. 10.000 square kilometres, with 18,600 households totally flooded. More than 40,000 people are still outside their homes, half of whom are accommodated in 25 collective centres and four military barracks.
As at May 25, Bosnia and Herzegovina received assistance form 29 states and 14 national and international relief organisations.
The Report reiterates urgent aid needs in the process of rehabilitation of ground surfaces and accommodation of population, in addition to urgent needs for large capacity pumps, small pumps (potable) and drying units, medicines for people and domestic animals (for different purposes), food for domestic animals, adequate (special purpose) vehicles for transport of animal corpses, fuel for work and transport machinery and aircraft for spraying, wheat for nutrition, agricultural seeding material (corn, wheat and other crops seeds).
Ministers informed the Council of Ministers on the activities they are taking continuously within their competences in order to help affected citizens in the flood rehabilitation efforts.
The Council of Ministers defined Proposal Basics for negotiations on a Contract on Cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro on Consular Protection and Visa Issues.
This way, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro improve protection of their citizens staying in third countries, where one of the Contracting States has no its own diplomatic-consular office.
Diplomatic-consular offices of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro will mutually represent interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s and Montenegrin citizens, respectively, in the view of securing consular protection and visa issuance to foreign citizens intending to visit one of the Contracting States for business or as tourists.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide the Proposal Basics to the Presidency of BIH for further procedure, and Minister Dr Zlatko Lagumdžija is proposed for the BIH signatory.
