At a joint press conference, Chairman Bevanda stressed that year 2012 might be the EU year for BIH.
European official Miroslav Lajčak stated that he fully endorses priorities of Chairman Bevanda concerning the European Integrations and economy, and that he leaves Sarajevo with much more optimism.
“We discussed on things BIH needs to do and the EU expects it to do. We stand ready to assist you. Last year was a year lost for BIH. BIH has moved to the right direction and I hope that it is going to stay that way, because the agenda contains the issues that will accelerate the stabilisation and accession process, and the Law on Census is the right way forward. You need to solve the issue of the Law on State Aid and implementation of the “Sejdić & Finci” Award and to adopt Budgets for years 2011 and 2012. I do believe that you on the right way to apply for EU membership”, Lajčak said.
He repeated that the EU negotiating partner is a state that must develop a mechanism to speak with the EU on behalf of the state, its entities and the whole structure.
“It is important for this mechanism to be an effective one to enable a quick getting closer to goals set. There is no place for doubts on whether or not the EU wants BIH to become its member state”, Lajčak added.
