Meeting of Chairwoman Krišto and Representatives of US Administration

Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Borjana Krišto met in Sarajevo with representatives of the US Administration Brendon Hanrahan, acting Assistant Secretary of State for Euroee, and Mark Fleming, acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe. 

The meeting reaffirmed friendly relations and alliance at the highest level between BIH and the USA. Chairwoman Krišto briefed Hanrahan and Fleming of the latest developments and on achievements of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European road. She pointed out that the European integrations remain the most important foreign policy aim, where through a full membership in the EU BIH would be able to achieve norms and standards it seeks. She underlined that the reforms achieved, and legislation adopted prove our commitment in these aspirations, including a fact of 100 per cent harmonisation of BIH foreign policy with that of the EU.

Along with fulfilment of remaining conditions and priorities, an adoption of a just Election Law of BIH, disabling discrimination, remains one of the key issues which burdens inter-ethnic relations significantly, Chairwoman Krišto said. She assessed that solving the issue will relax relations among constitutive people, particularly in the Federation of BIH, and enable implementation of the Constitutional Court of BIH and European Cort for Human Rights awards.

The meeting discussed the importance of strengthening of economic capacities, including security sector, already additionally strengthened by signing of an Agreement with Frontex.

The meeting concluded that Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Administration of the United States of America will continue to work together on all relevant issues, strengthening  joint aims in peace development, stability and prosperity, both on regional level as well as on the European continent as a whole. (end)
