Minister Špirić Talks with IMF Resident Representative in BIH on Stand-By Arrangement Implementation

Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury dr. Nikola Špirić, talked today with resident representative of the International Monetary Fund in BIH Ruben Atoyan.
At today’s meeting, a discussion unfolded on overcoming the implementation problems in connection with certain conditions from the Supplemental Letter of Intent, following the Sixth Review of the IMF Mission within the Stand-By Arrangement.
It was assessed that different interpretations of certain provisions from the Letter of Intent during the negotiations between the Entity Governments and the IMF Mission circulated in public, and that it is necessary to continue negotiations in order to avoid certain misunderstandings.
Minister Špirić said that results of indirect tax collection measures are already evident, according to the latest data which indicate that net revenues this February were increased for KM 70 million, compared with the same month last year, and that indices suggest at the continuing trend after the stepped-up control of major tax payers and debt collection.
The meeting agreed that the negotiations should be continued so as to arrive at solutions acceptable to all, and to continue the Stand-By Arrangement with planned dynamics, as successfully implemented to date.
