The third day of participation of Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr Zlatko Lagumdžija at the United Nations General Assembly session in New York, was marked by his bilateral meetings, held in the light of strengthening of economic cooperation, and participation at multilateral conventions.

Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Zlatko Lagumdžija took part at a New York meeting of the Socialist International, working meeting of Foreign Ministers of member countries of the American-Adriatic (A5) and American-Baltic Charter, within which a meeting of West Balkan Foreign Ministers was held (West Balkan six+1), in addition to separate meetings with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Sate of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamid Al-Sabah and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco Saad-Eddine El Othmani.

Dr Lagumdžija took part at the extended meeting of the Socialist International, attended by Heads of States and Governments of the Socialist International member countries. The meeting included an open discussion during which Dr Lagumdžija said that our region must make new progress in years 2013 and 2014 on its European integrations path.

At the working meeting of Foreign Ministers of member countries of the American-Adriatic and American-Baltic Charter, held upon an initiative of Montenegro, the A 5 presiding member, on the theme “NATO Integrations and Cooperation and Charters Contribution to Regional and Global Security”, the Charter member countries respective experiences in regional cooperation and integrations were exchanged and prospects for future joint activities considered.

Dr Lagumdžija underlined support of Bosnia and Herzegovina to an idea of exchange of experiences and promotion of mutual cooperation between member countries of A5 and Baltic Charter, and commended the progress made by West Balkan countries on their way to the European integrations, as well as in regard to NATO “open door” principles. He stressed the commitment of Bosnia and Herzegovina to achieve NATO membership, including its commitment to the aims and principles of the American-Adriatic Charter, expressing the interest of our country for the continuation of cooperation in view of a joint participation in peace-keeping operations.

Dr Lagumdžija thanked to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for his earlier invitation to visit Kuwait in the coming period, and informed his interlocutor of his intention to lead a high political-economic delegation to visit the country soon with an aim to concretise cooperation of the two countries in the areas of economy, science and culture. They touched upon soon-to-be-finalised bilateral agreements in the areas of economy, science and culture, in addition to cooperation of the two countries in the sector of tourism and exchange of support of the two countries’ respective candidatures in international bodies.

At the margins of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly, Dr Lagumdžija met with Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco Saad-Eddine El Othmani, on which occasion he invited him to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina by the end of this year, stressing that several bilateral agreements between BIH and Morocco are ready available for signing on that occasion,

During his stay in New York, Dr Lagumdžija also had talks with Foreign Minister of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčak and European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle on activities in the country concerning the “Sejdić-Finci” ruling.                                                                       (end)
