Chairman of the Council of Ministers Receives IMF Delegation

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of B-H Dr Nikola Špirić received the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Špirić stressed that the conclusion of the Stand-by Arrangement with the IMF required a high level of internal agreement within B-H, which has been achieved through a compromise. 

Chairman Špirić said that the arrangement represented an optimal funding combination in a situation when the foreign capital inflow was reduced, budget revenues decreased, and expenditure adjustments called for, especially in the area of welfare contributions.

 

The meeting discussed the Programme status, as a part of preparations for its first review planned for this November.

 

Špirić concluded that B-H Institutions have fulfilled all first review requirements they had made commitment to under the Stand-by Arrangement.

 

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers expressed a determination for the continuation of cooperation with the IMF and compliance with agreed to measures.

 

Špirić made point on improvement of statistics in the context of the IMF Programme. He assessed that Bosnia and Herzegovina needed to conduct the Census, for the reason of achieving statistical quality and improved policy management.

 

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of B-H also noted the importance of a realistic budgetary planning.
