Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr Nkola Špirić and his Deputy, Minister of Finance and Treasury of B-H Dragan Vrankić, talked with Shiego Katcu departing President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia and Philipe Le Houero his successor in office.

Špirić informed the World Bank officials of the successfully completed negotiations with the International Monetary Fund and expressed his expectations that the conclusion of an agreement with the IMF would mean also a stepped-up support of the World Bank to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In that regard, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers underlined that B-H expects from the World Bank more IDA resources, as well as project support to the Budget. He added that there was a special interest for a SMEs development credit line.

Špirić briefed Katsuo and Le Houero on the activities undertaken by the Council of Ministers as a follow-up of the “Doing Business” Report, and expressed his hope that it would result in better ranking of B-H in this year’s report, which would dispatch a significant message to potential investors.

World Bank Vice President Katsu assessed as very positive the fact that B-H   successfully completed its talks with IMF and emphasised that it would enable the World Bank to increase its support to B-H. Katco underlined especially the importance of the social sector reform.

Both Špirić and Katsu expressed their expectations that a good cooperation of B-H with the World Bank would be continued in the coming period.

Budva is the venue of the WB/IMF Dutch Constituence meeting.
