Chairman Špirić Talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers emphasised the interest of B-H for the improvement of economic cooperation with the Russian Federation, especially in investments.
Chairman Špirić underlined that the strength of the Russian economy might be beneficial to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s recovery and said that the time of intensified economic cooperation leis ahead.
„The Russsian Federation is currently the seventh largest investor to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which suggests that there is a lot of space for intensified activity. On our side we will do our best to remove administrative barriers in order to make the exchange stronger “, stated Chairman Špirić.
The meeting stressed a need for soon meeting of the Joint Commission for Trade-Economic Cooperation Monitoring.
Špirić highlighted the interest in stepping-up and completion of procedures for conclusion of bilateral agreements, such as Agreement on Mutual Investment Promotion and Protection; Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation; Agreement on Air Traffic; Agreement on Readmission; Agreement on Preferential Trade; Agreement on Cooperation on Protection from Natural and Civilisation Catastrophes, including the Protocol on Cooperation between the Justice Ministries of B-H and RF.
Chairman Špirić expressed the interest for further promotion of cooperation in the areas of education, science and culture.
Chairman Špirić informed Minister Lavrov of the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and stressed that the principle of mutual agreement is the best formula for the success of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister Lavrov confirmed that the position of the Russian Federation remains unchanged and that all issues in B-H should be solved on the basis of concord of both Entities and all three constitutive peoples.
