Chairman of Council of Ministers of B-H Talks with EUROSTAT Representatives

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of B-H Dr Nikola Špirić received today a delegation of EUROSTAT, led by Peter Everas, and took part at the first meeting of the International Census Monitoring Operation, for the Census of Population, Households and Flats in B-H, planned for 2011. 

Chairman Špirić underlined the importance of the 2011 Census in B-H, which will secure data on population number and structure, its territorial distribution, vital, educational, socio-economic, migration and other characteristics.

 

Špirić informed of the activities on development of the Census Law, which the Council of Ministers of B-H prepared and sent to Parliamentarian procedure on August 20^th, 2009.

 

He reminded of the last Census of 1991, which was followed by massive movements and changes in all segments of life, so it would be seen as an adverse development if B-H would not be among the majority of countries of the world to carry out census in 2011.

 

Chairman Špirić welcomed the European commission readiness to secure support to the process, including the international monitoring aimed at ensuring the Census results’ credibility.
