Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Borjana Krišto and Resident Coordinator of United Nations in BIH Arnhild Spence signed a Cooperation Framework for Sustainable Development between Bosnia and Herzegovina and United Nations in Sarajevo today for 2026–2030-time span, thus confirming a strategic partnership for realisation of sustainable development aims and implementation of Agenda 20230 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Strategic Cooperation Framework represents a base strategic document defining cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the United Nations system in the next five years, guiding joint actions to respond to country’s development needs and support priority development needs  of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Chairwoman Krišto stressed that signing of the document confirms joint dedication of Bosnia and Herzegovina for acceleration of sustainable development, institutions building, improved quality of life of citizens and development of an inclusive, more resilient and prosperous society.

UN Resident Coordinator Spence said the Cooperation Framework marks a new important chapter of partnership between United Nations and authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She underlined its alignment with priorities within Framework for Realisation of Sustainable Development Aims and Reform Agenda in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Reflecting a strong dedication of Bosnia and Herzegovina authorities it sets a joint vision directed to an inclusive green growth, human capital development and accountable institutions and social cohesion. She added that United Nations remain committed to cooperation with its partners in country on acceleration implementation of the Sustainable Growth Aims.

The Document defines three strategic priorities of the cooperation, namely, inclusive green growth, development of human capital and accountable institutions and social cohesion. Its  implementation is based on a coordinated approach and partnership  with all-level government, with consideration to their competences, development policies and legal framework, as well as through continued consultations with civil society organisations, development partners and other relevant actors, Developed through a joint effort by United Nations team in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Cross-Sector Work Group for Monitoring of Sustainable Development Aims Implementation, it represents a continuation of a successful cooperation after expiry of the previous Cooperation Framework 2021-2025.
